Forbes billionaires list: seven Indian info-technology entrepreneurs |

NEW DELHI, (AP) - Most of the 11 Indians on the Forbes Magazine list of billionaires have made their fortunes through Information Technology, it was reported Friday, highlighting the success of the business in India.
India's richest man, according to the magazine's rankings, is Azim Premji, head of the Wipro computer technology firm, with a net worth of dlrs 6.9 billion, reported Press Trust of India news agency. Wipro plans a dlrs 500 million listing soon on the NASDAQ stock exchange in New York.
Premji is ranked 38th on the Forbes list of the world's richest people and he is 8.7 times poorer than the man at the top of the list, Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates, who has dlrs 60 billion, according to Forbes.
Aside from Premji, six other Indians on the billionaires' list can trace their fortunes to the information technology revolution, PTI reported.
However, petrochemical king Dhirubhani Ambani and his family, who are not yet in the info-tech business, were ranked at No. 40 with dlrs 6.6 billion.
