US$18.383 million loan from Islamic Development Bank |

Dhaka (UNB) – Bangladesh will receive US$18.383 million as loans from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) under two agreements signed at IDB headquarters in Jeddah on Sunday.
Of the amount, US$9.576 million will be provided for financing the Integrated Area Development Project in Gopalganj, Madaripur, Shariatpur and Pirojpur districts.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) will execute the project under the control and supervision of the Agriculture Ministry.
Under the second agreement, IDB will provide US$8.807 million for establishment of three women polytechnic institutions in the divisional headquarters of Rajshahi, Chittagong and Khulna.
Directorate of Technical Education in association with Facilities Department will implement the project.
The objective of the project is to create facilities for women skill development and help transform the vast women population into human resources to contribute more to the economic development.
IDB Vice-president Dr Syed Zaafar Aznan and Joint Secretary of ERD M Sayefuddin signed the agreement, said a press release here yesterday.
