1st consignment of raw rubber depart |

Dhaka (UNB) - Adding a new item in the export list Bangladesh yesterday started exporting raw rubber produced by the Forest Industries Development Corporation. State Minister for Environment and Forest HN Ashiqur Rahman formally inaugurated the export of crude rubber at the Kamalapur International Container Depot. The raw rubber is being exported to Russia first and many other countries have already shown interest to import rubber from Bangladesh, said an official handout. It said rubber is now being produced on 32,600 acres of land in 15 gardens of three zones. Some 16 lakh rubber plants have achieved maturity to produce 5 lakh kgs of raw rubber annually. With the assistance of BFIDC, almost same number of gardens have been brought under private sector cultivation to produce some three lakh kg raw rubber. Chaired by BFIDC Chairman Chinta Haran Shaha, the inaugural function was also addressed by Secretary of the ministry Mahfuzul Islam, Mainuddin Ahmed Chowdhury and MD of the exporting organization M/S Rainbow Associates M Maruf Hossain. |
