Dhaka (UNB)- The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry yesterday formed a three-member subcommittee with AB Tazul Islam as convenor to probe into Magurchhara gasfield explosion.

Two other members of the committee are Imran Ahmed and Abdul Mukit Khan.

The subcommittee will submit inquiry report on the gas blowout, which caused substantial loss of resources, before the main committee “in the shortest possible time”, said an official handout.

Chaired by committee chairman and chief whip Abul Hasnat Abdullah, the meeting was attended by State Minister for Energy Prof Rafiqul Islam, AB Tazul Islam, Imran Ahmed and Abdul Mukit Khan.

Energy and Mineral Resources Division Secretary M Akmal Hossain, Petrobangla Chairman Mosharraf Hossain and Additional Secretary (Law) of Parliament Secretariat Abdul Muktadir Chowdhury were present.
