Japan should continue investing in South Asia |

Saitama (Japan), (UNB)- The Japanese youth leaders have expressed views to keep up Japan’s assistance and increase investment in South-Asian countries for helping the countries achieve self-reliance. They, however, stressed the need for a strong monitoring system for proper utilization of Japanese grants and assistance in the South-Asian countries. Their views came at the concluding session of a 3-day Japan-South Asia Youth Forum discussion yesterday (Sunday) on “International Contribution.” Japan South-Asia Youth Forum organized the discussion held at a resort about 200km away from Tokyo. Eighty-two youths, 40 from Japan and 42 from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives took part in the discussion held in groups on 8 topics. The topics are: International Contribution Environment Problems, Information Technology, cross culture between Japan and South Asian countries, Development and environment, education, gender and life-style in Japan and South-Asian countreis. The Japanese government organized a 15-day South-Asian Youth Envitation programme as part of cultural exchange with countries in South Asia. The discussants reached consensus on developing skilled manpower in South-Asian countries with active cooperation of Japan. |
