NAIROBI (AP) -- New Zealand recovered from opening upsets to snatch the ICC Knockout title from the pre-match favourites India, whom they beat by four wickets in the final on Sunday. Chasing India's total of 264 that they scored for the loss of six, the Kiwis curved their hard-earned victory around the sixth wicket partnership of a limping Chris Cairns and Chris Harris. They started their mission from the 24th over to 49th when Harris was caught at cover by Robin Singh off Venkatesh Prasad. Harris scored 46 runs from 72 balls, but Cairns carried the game through, with a match-winning 102 not out from 113 balls. New Zealand, who won the toss and elected to field, won the prize money of $340,000. Saurav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar set up an opening stand of 141 as India scored 264 for six at the end of their innings. Ganguly hammered his 15th one day international century, knocking 117 from 130 balls before Harris caught him at mid-on from Nathan Astle's ball in the 43rd over. His innings included nine fours and four sixes. India's middle order failed to carry on from the opening pair, who went wild with the bat. With a capacity crowd of roaring Kenyan-Asians blowing trumpets, mixed with throbbing drumbeats and deafening whistles, India surged to 86 for no loss in the 15th over. Tendulkar hit his half century off 46 balls, which included nine fours and a six. India were 129 for no loss in the 25th over when Tendulkar lost his wicket in the 27th over when Scott Styris was quicker to the ball for a run out. He was out with 69 runs from 82 balls, which included 10 fours and a single six. Rahul Dravid, then scored only 22 and was also run out in the 39th over. The middle order batsmen failed to go beyond 20, with Yuvraj Singh's 19, Ajit Agarkar's 15 not out and Robin Singh's 13 the only double figures. New Zealand started on the wrong foot, losing opener Craig Spearman who was caught in the second over at point by Yuvraj Singh from a Prasad ball having scored only three. Prasad then trapped captain Stephen Fleming leg before in the sixth over with five runs from 11 balls to pave way for Roger Twose. Nathan Astle was back to the pavilion in the 15th over when Robin Singh caught him at mid-on from Anil Kumble ball having scored 37 from 48 balls. Twose was stumped in the 19th over by Vijay Dahiya from a Kumble ball with 31 runs. The Kiwis steadied in the 24th over after Craig MacMillan was caught by Ganguly at point off Tendulkar with Cairns and Harris making runs that salvaged the winners. Cairns won the title on the 49.4th over with a single run, much to the disappointment of the cricket-mad Kenyan-Asians who came to celebrate India's presumed victory. Scorecard : ICC Knockout final
