Dhaka-- (UNB) - Debutante Bangladesh is likely to Play 36 test matches in the next five years at home and away for coming to age in the elite club of cricket. The test babes will have encounters with all the rest nine in the club-giants or minnows-four times with each, during the period of hands-on orientation. Bangladesh Cricket Board President and Deputy Minister for LGRD Saber Hossain Chowdhury unveiled the plan yesterday (Saturday) to sports journalists. "Bangladesh will tour at least two test-playing nations in 2001 while two test elite will also visit Bangladesh the same year," the BCB boss said. Test babes Bangladesh, who earned the status on June 26, is expected to play some 56 ODI series in next five years during their test schedule, three matches in each outing. Bangladesh will get TV rights while hosting test matches here but in their foreign tour the host nation will earn TV rights under bilateral contracts. Prior to the next World Cup Cricket'2003, Bangladesh will tour host South Africa to play matches in all the designated world cup venues to adjust with local weather and ground conditions. Former world cup champions India will arrive here November 7 to play an historic and maiden test match against debutante Bangladesh November 10-14 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. Bangladesh squad for the debut will be announced either on November 1 or 2 while the Indian team announced by November 3, the BCB President told newsmen. On the eve of the christening test matches, a photo exhibition will be held in Dhaka on November 6. |
