Dhaka-- (UNB) – Veteran left arm spinner Enamul Haque Moni and middle order batsman Habibul Bashar Sumon have finally been included in the national team for the maiden test match against India. In the wake of criticism by former cricketers and the press, Bangladesh Cricket Board in a late night decision Wednesday added these two players to the earlier announced 14-member squad. Last year the BCB included Minhazul Abedin Nannu in the World Cup squad in a similar fashion. When asked if there is any complication over the 16-member team, BCB President Saber Hossain Chowdhury said it would not be a problem for Bangladesh as it is hosting the match. “Fourteen-member team is not mandatory for the host country,” he said adding if Moni and Sumon prove their worth before the match they might be included in the 11-member final squad. The BCB boss told journalists at the sponsorship function of the test yesterday that he had asked the selection committee to take 16 players, if necessary. |
