Greenidge arrives in city with wife |

Dhaka (UNB) – Former Bangladesh national cricket coach Gordon Greenidge arrived in the city today (Wednesday) with his spouse to watch the inaugural test match between Bangladesh and India on Nov. 10-14. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) invited the legendary West Indian opener, who was released from his assignment with Bangladesh team due to difference of opinion with the Board after the World Cup in 1999. Another former coach of Bangladesh cricket team, Mohindar Amarnath of India, is expected to arrive in the capital tomorrow (Thursday). Meanwhile, BCB failed to contact yet another former coach, Mudassar Nazar of Pakistan. World’s two top-ranking umpires, David Shepherd of England and Steve Bucknor of West Indies, who will conduct the inaugural test match, and match referee Raman Subba Row of England also reached the city today. Four WorldTel commentators – Tony Greig, Ian Chappel, Michael Holding and S Krishnan — and presenter Ravi Shastri is expected to arrive here tomorrow (Thursday). |
