Dhaka, Nov 10 (UNB) - Bangladesh captain Naimur Rahman Durjoy wants his team to stay longer at the crease with the target of making a draw against giant India in the historic inaugural test that began at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.

"We want to stay at the crease for long, at least up to lunch tomorrow (Saturday) rather than a good total," he told newsmen soon after the first day's match.

Regarding the day's total of 239 for 6, all-rounder Durjoy said he was happy with the score, but not fully satisfied. "Our plan was to keep at least six wickets intact after the first day."

Replying to a question, he said the day's total was "nearer to our expectation."

Giving credit to Aminul Islam Bulbul and Habibul Bashar Sumon for their outstanding batting, the Bangladesh skipper said now a draw is not so impossible.

About the inclusion of opener Mehrab Hossain Opee in the first eleven, he said Opee was included in the team for his quality. "He did not click today, it may happen in any game. So, I am not disappointed, nor any regret about his inclusion."

On India's strong pace attack, Durjoy said the team management "instructed us not to worry about the reputation of any bowler, but to play our usual game and accordingly, we tried our best."

Former national skipper Bulbul, who played the anchor role today contributing unbeaten 70 runs with eight fours, said: "I am a little bit happy to perform my national duty as per the advice of the team management."

He added: "The team management instructed us not to play any ambitious shot, but try to stay in the crease as long as possible. I'll try my best to follow the advice."

Bulbul said he was satisfied to regain his batting form after a long drought.

However, one down Habibul Bashar Sumon, who had the honour of making the Bangladesh's first test half century, was not quite happy with his score of 71 runs, the highest of Bangladesh innings. "I would have been happy if I could stay at least up to tea," he said.

He added: "I try my best to play good cricket for the nation as well as for my well-wishers, who gave me the opportunity to play in the maiden test."
