Buckner conducts five-day “Umpires’ Seminar 2000” |

Dhaka-- (UNB) – A five-day “Umpires’ Seminar 2000”, aiming to include Bangladeshi umpires in the ICC Cricket Umpires Panel, began at National Sports Council here yesterday. State Minister for Youth, Sports and Cultural Affairs Obaidul Quader inaugurated the seminar. BCB President Saber Hossain Chowdhury was also present. ICC Umpire Steve Buckner is conducting the seminar jointly organised by International Cricket Council (ICC) and Bangladesh Cricket Board, said a press release. Twenty-four Grade A Bangladeshi umpires are participating in the special seminar organised in order to include Bangladeshi umpires in the ICC Cricket Umpires Panel as Bangladesh graduated to test status. Six of these umpires through this seminar will be selected to participate in different international tournaments to be held in Bangladesh. And two of them will subsequently be included in the ICC Umpires Panel. |
