Dhaka--(UNB) –The 2nd National Cricket League sponsored by Green Delta Insurance begins today (Wednesday) at different venues across the country.

Holders Chittagong Division team will face Bangladesh Biman at the BKSP ground in one of the opening matches.

Other opening matches are: Rajshahi Division vs Dhaka Division at Rajshahi, Dhaka Metropolitan team vs Sylhet Division at Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, Khulna Division vs Barisal Division at Jessore.

Each of the four-day first round matches will be split into two tiers: a longer version game during the first three days and a one-day encounter on the fourth and last day.

Four top teams of each group will move into the final round, scheduled to begin from January 11. Each match of the final round will be held for five days including a four-day match plus a one-day encounter on the last day.

According to bye-laws, the straight winners will get full six points, the first innings leader will secure four points for a draw match and the one-day match winner will gain two points.

Maximum 100 overs will be allotted for each innings and 90 overs will be bowled in a day.

The league committee this year included two more teams -- Bangladesh Biman and Dhaka Metropolitan -- with six divisional squads.

The eight teams, dividing into two groups, will play the first round, which will be held in country’s 12 different venues.

Group A: Chittagong Division, Dhaka Division, Rajshahi Division and Bangladesh Biman.

Group B: Sylhet Division, Khulna Division, Barisal Division and Dhaka Metropolitan.
