Dhaka-- (UNB) – A majestic unbeaten 195-run by Pakistani Imran Farhat guided Bangladesh Biman to fly high making mammoth 355 runs for 2 wickets in their first innings against holders Chittagong Division at the BKSP ground yesterday. The Pakistani opener along with his team captain Aminul Islam Bulbul (55), the former national skipper, were at the crease when the first day’s bails were drawn after 92 overs of playing. Bulbul won the toss and decided to bat first in the three-day opening match of the Green Delta National Cricket League that began yesterday. The national flag-carrier team will play eight more overs today (Thursday) in their first innings. In his 390-minute innings, opener Imran Farhat hit 25 boundaries facing 284 balls to make 195 runs while his unbeaten partner Bulbul struck six fours off 103 balls in his 55-run innings. One down Habibul Bashar Sumon, who batted brilliantly in the inaugural test match against India, made 51 runs off 108 balls that included six boundaries before he was trapped leg before wicket by left arm spinner Enamul Haq Moni. Pacer Shafiuddin Babu took the first wicket for the defending champions trapping opener Javed Omar Belim Gulla in leg before wicket with scoreboard reading 69 runs. Gulla made 26 off 71 deliveries. In another match at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, two half centuries by Khaled Mahmud Sujon and Niamur Rashid Rahul helped Dhaka Metropolitan team to score respectable 275 runs for 9 wickets in their first innings against Sylhet Division yesterday. Anwar and Morshed Ali Khan Sumon were at the crease with 13 and 14 runs respectively when the bails were drawn for the first day after playing 96 overs. They will face the remaining four overs today . Sujon, skipper of the newcomer Dhaka Metropolitan team and former national all rounder, won the toss and decided to bat first but his top order failed to prove his decision right. National team pacer and Sylhet Division captain Hasibul Hossain Shanta wrecked the opposition top orders capturing three wickets. Number seven batsman Rahul was the top scorer making 66 runs off 131 balls that featured eight boundaries and one over boundary while Sujon added 55 runs off 97 deliveries with eight fours. Opener Mohammad Ashraful was another notable contributor with 41 runs off 76 balls featuring seven fours and one six. Apart from Shanta’s three-wicket haul, Alok Kapali and Mohammed Rafique bagged two wickets each.
