Dhaka 153 all out in reply to Rajshahi’s 230 runs |

Dhaka--(Bangla2000)--At the Faridpur Stadium, Dhaka Division continued their poor show in the longer version of the National Cricket League as they were bundled out for 153 runs in reply to Rajshahi Division’s 230 runs in the first innings. Medium pacer Musfiqur Rahman Babu captured four wickets to give Rajshahi Division a 77-run first innings lead. Rajshahi Division, however, fell in trouble in their second innings as they lost four wickets for 70 runs in 29 overs before the bails were drawn on the second day yesterday. Opener Rafiqul Islam was batting with 29 runs while Nuruzzaman was yet to open his account playing only one delivery. MH Rubel was the most successful bowler for Dhaka Division claiming two wickets - of Anisur Rahman (11) and Mohammad Kalim (0). Veteran pacer Saiful Islam made the breakthrough for his team dismissing Omar Sharif, who scored 18 runs off 42 balls, while national promising left-arm pacer Bikas Ranjan Das captured another wicket - of Farid Hasan (1) - trapping him leg before wicket. Earlier, resuming with overnight score of 6 for 1, Dhaka Division were all out for 153 runs riding on a 48-run ninth wicket partnership between Biplob Sarker and MH Rubel. Number nine batsman Biplob scored team highest 31 runs off 58 balls with four boundaries before giving a return catch to Mustadir Litu. Rubel contributed 27 runs off 59 deliveries with three fours and one six before he was stumped by Tomal off Litu, who finished with a figure of 7.3-0-12-2. National all rounder Mushfiqur Rahman Babu, who took the only wicket on the first day, returned a bowling figure of 21-7-51-4 to wreck the opposition top order. Besides Litu, pacer Aminul Islam Bhola and IP Ripon also captured two wickets each conceding 30 and 25 runs respectively. At the Barisal Stadium, a brilliant 147-run knock by Sajjadul Hasan enabled Khulna Division to take a huge 138-run first innings lead against hosts Barisal Division piling up 332 runs for nine wickets in fixed 100 overs. Resuming with overnight score of 11 for no loss, Khulna Division posted the mammoth total in their first innings riding on a 163-run association between Hasan and Raju Parvez. Hasan hammered 18 boundaries and two over boundaries to make 147 off 294 balls while his partner Parvez contributed 84 runs off 162 deliveries with 10 fours. Number five batsman Asadullah Khan was the other notable scorer who contributed 31 runs off 38 balls with a lone boundary while Niaz Murshed added 22 off 23 deliveries with two hits across the rope and one over the rope. Ishtiaq Ahmed was the most successful bowler for Barisal Division grabbing five wickets for 53 runs in 17 overs while Hannan Sarker took three for 93 runs. Barisal Division scored 25 runs for no loss in 7 overs at stumps on the second day yesterday with Imran Ahmed and Shafayet batting on 6 and 11 runs respectively. |
