Dhaka-- (UNB) – The government announced National Sports Award 2000 for 10 sports-personalities for their outstanding contributions in the field.

According to an announcement made yesterday (Wednesday) the award winners for this year in cricket are Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu and ASM Rakibul Hasan.

Mohammad Abu Taher Batu and ASM Aslam will receive the laurels for their success in football while hockey award will go to Sabbir Yusuf.

Abdus Sattar will get the award for shooting, Squadron Leader M Rafiqul Islam and M Rawshan Ali for swimming while Shamima Sattar Mimu and Razia Sultana Anu get it for their marks in athletics.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday distributed sports award for the year 1999 among 10 sportsmen.
