BCB Under-21 side bundled out for 195 in 68.4 overs |

Dhaka--(UNB)- The visiting Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy team of Australia took a 174-run lead over BCB Under-21 side on the second day of the three-day match at the BKSP ground in Savar yesterday (Monday). The touring team, which scored an impressive total of 273 runs for 4 in their first innings on Sunday featuring a century by Shaun Marsh, scored 96 for 2 in 26 overs in the second innings when bails were drawn for the second day yesterday. BCB Under-21 team resumed their first innings last (Monday) morning with an overnight total of 23 for no loss in just four overs, failed to settle down with bat due to devastating bowling by pacer Andrew Mcdonald and were bundled out for 195 runs in 68.4 overs. New ball bowler Andrew Mcdonald grabbed six vital wickets of Setu, Rajin, Salim, Sharif, Tapash and Bikash conceding only 28 runs in his 13.4 overs spell that featured three maidens. Adam Voges claimed three local wickets for 49 runs in 14 overs, including two maidens, while another new ball bowler Tim Welsford took the vital wicket of upcoming cricketer Mohammad Ashraful giving away 55 runs in 19 overs with two maidens. The BCB team faced an early batting collapse this morning when their two night-watch opening batsmen - Setu (16) and reliable Asharful (4) — went back to the pavilion with 17 and 19 runs respectively leaving team total 39 for 2 in 6.3 overs. After the departure of four batsmen for only 63 runs in 15.5 overs, two middle order batsmen MH Mridul & Tusher Imran somehow saved the local side from another awkward situation scoring 75 runs in the fifth wicket stand. Number six batsmen Tusher contributed team highest 48 runs in 87 deliveries hitting ten boundaries while number five Mridul scored a patient 33 runs off 117 balls, including four fours. Another lower-order batsman Mohammed Sharif made a quick 31-run in just 32 balls with five hits to the fence. The touring side opened their second innings this afternoon and scored 96 for 2 in 26 overs with Aaron O Brien and Adam Voges batting with 43 and 16 runs respectively. Earlier, their two opening batsmen Luke William (33) and Daniel Harris (4) went back to the dressing room when scoreboard was showing 78 for 2 in 22.2 overs. The Australian team will resume their remaining second innings today (Tuesday), the third and last day of the match.
