Dhaka-- (UNB) – The first three-day match between visiting Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy of Australia and BCB Under-21 ended in a draw at the BKSP ground in Savar yesterday (Tuesday).


The tourists resumed their second innings on the third and last day with an overnight total of 96 for 4 and declared their innings at 227 runs for 5 in 52 overs taking a 305-run lead over the hosts.


Number four bat Adam Voges, who was batting on 16 at stumps Monday, contributed a polish 75-run off 81 balls featuring 10 fours while nightwatchman Aaron O’Brien added only 5 runs to his overnight score 43.


Chris Hartley, who came to bat in number eight, made quick and unbeaten 50 runs off just 45 deliveries with five hits across the rope and one over the rope.


New ball bowler Mohammad Sharif claimed two wickets for 53 runs in 11 overs while national pacer Bikash Ranjan Das, skipper Sabbir Khan and Manjurul took one wicket each.


Chasing the huge target, the BCB Under-21 side came to bat at noon and scored 218 runs for the loss of five wickets in 71 overs when the bails were drawn on the last day for a draw.


For the BCB Under-21 team, promising national batsman Rajin Saleh, who came to bat in number three, hammered team highest 81 runs off 153 balls featuring 11 boundaries.


Opener SH Setu made 31 runs off 50 balls, his opening partner M Ashraful scored 27 off 68 deliveries, number five bat MH Mridul hit 27 runs in 49 balls and Tusher Imran remained not out with 25 runs off 41 deliveries.


Aaron O’Brien of Australia grabbed three wickets for 36 runs in his 17-over spell while pacer Andrew McDonald and skipper Nathan Hauritz captured one wicket each.


The touring team will fly for the northern city of Rajshahi on Thursday to play a three-dayer on January 12-14 and a one-day match on January 15, both against BCB President’s X1.
