Bangladesh Biman beat Khulna Division by 9-wickets |

Dhaka-- (UNB)- Bangladesh Biman handed Khulna Division a crushing 9-wicket defeat at BKSP yesterday (Sunday) to take solo lead in the Green Delta National Cricket League. Title aspirants Biman lost their top slot in the previous round, downed by Dhaka Metropolis, but staged a brilliant comeback in this round to raise their tally to 38 points. Khulna Division secured 34 points while Dhaka Metropolis joined holders Chittagong Division collecting 36 points after beating the latter in the one-day match yesterday. Khulna set a meager 81-run target for Bangladesh Biman to earn full six points as the outstation team was all out for 267 in their second innings yesterday. Captain Faruque Ahmed guided Biman to easily reach the target losing the only wicket of Javed Omar Belim Gulla who scored 10 runs off 45 balls. Former national skipper Faruque contributed unbeaten 43 runs off 88 balls with four boundaries while Habibul Bashar Sumon added not out 18 runs. Earlier, promising pacer Mohammed Sharif dominated the last day of the four-day match taking five wickets for 75 runs to restrict Khulna Division at 267 for all. Khulna resumed the day with 143 for 4. Pakistani Manzoor Akhter claimed another wicket yesterday to finish with a bowling figure of 33.3-8-91-5. Number four batsman Raju Parvez scored team highest 80 runs off 187 balls for Khulna with eight boundaries while Jamaluddin Babu added 24 off 107 balls.
