Dhaka-- (UNB) - The first day smiled for the visiting Australian boys as they scored 297 runs for 6 at stumps yesterday in the four-day match against BCB XI at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. Shaun Marsh, son of former Australian wicket-keeper Rodney Marsh, continued his impressive run in the tour hitting 92 runs to led the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy post a comfortable total. The tourists lost two quick wickets at 40 runs after Bangladesh Cricket Board XI captain Khaled Masud Pilot invited them to bat first. But the promising batsman Shaun frustrated local bowlers contributing 136 runs in the third wicket stand with one down Stanton, who scored 45 off 112 balls with nine boundaries. Number four batsman Shaun Marsh’s 92 runs came from 134 deliveries that featured 13 boundaries before he offered catch to Pilot off Mushfiqur Rahman Babu. He reached half century facing 82 deliveries. Andrew Kent was batting with 61 runs off 81 balls while Adam Voges giving him company with 11 runs when the bails were drawn for the first day. Medium pacer and national allrounder Mushfiq Babu was the most successful bowler for the homeside claiming four wickets for 73 runs while opening bowler Aminul Islam Bhola took one for 42. Country’s number one bowler Hasibul Hossain Shanta earned his only success on the day trapping Stanton in leg before wicket.
