Hasibul out for five week |

pacer Hasibul Hossain may have to stay out of action at least for five
weeks, doctors said. Having
the X-ray, MRI and CT Scan don’t Thursday, doctors advised him to take
complete rest to let his damaged left-knee enough time to recuperate. “They
said it had torn some ligament, causing serious internal hemorrhage there.
The knee is now badly swollen and sore. I’m not being able to move
without the help of crutches,” Hasibul, the strike bowler of the
Abaahani Krira Chakra said to The Daily star Sport last night. Hasibul
got badly injured when a furious Zahoor Elahi of Kalabagan Krira Chakra
threw his bat at his conqueror during an ill-fated Premier Division League
match on Thursday. The bat hit hard at the left-knee of a celebrating
Hasibul that led to an on-field scuffle among the players, uproar at the
stand and 90-minute injunction on play. This
revelation however dealt a big blow to the title chase of Abahani this
season Hasibul’s absence is going to deplete the bowing attack of the
popular Dhanmondi consider ably. “Doctors
will have a check on the knee after a week. Then I can know for sure what
lies ahead of me,” the tall national all-rounder said in a voice tinged
with frustration. A
worried national team physio. Gavin Benzafield twice visited Hasibul at
his home yesterday, “He asked me not to strain the knee and continue the
ice-bag therapy,” Hasibul said. Saber
Hossain Chowdhury, the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Control Board (BCB),
also went down to his place and inquired about his condition yesterday. Meanwhile,
Zahoor, the man behind the sad incident, formally apologized yesterday for
his atrocious behavior on the field. “T he accidental incident that
occurred was not intentional and was just an instant reaction of
disappointment. I
solemnly apologies to Hasibul and to the crowd for this incident.
In my life this was the first incident of this type that l got involved.
Hope, everybody will forgive (me) and forget (it),” said Zahoor in a
press release. Hasibul
however had little to say to the Pakistani, who was suspended for
four-match and fined Tk 10,000 by the league organizers, CCEM (Cricket
Committee of Dhaka Metropolitan) “I
have nothing to say about it anymore. What good can I co for me now by
saying some thing? I worked very hard to remain in good shape so that I
can give better performance for my team and for the country this year.
That incident simply shattered my dream,” said the frustrated frontline
