March
17, 2000 India has clinched the one day series with a last over win today against South Africa. Tendulkar has come back at last to show the world his worth again. His 25th one day century came in the 37th over bowled by Cronje. After driving the bowler to wide long off for his tenth boundary and taking his score to 99, Tendulkar pushed one in the direction of square leg to reach three figures off 110 balls. After winning the toss, Cronje decided to bat first on a pitch forecasted to produce a lot of run at the beginning. South Africans made 287 for 5 in the stipulated 50 overs. Jack Kallis was the top scorer with 81 runs. Gary Kirsten make 72 facing 113 balls and HH Gibbs contributed 37. India played very confidently in return. Ganguli and Tendulkar continued their play as if they were going to finish the match themselves. Ganguli was finally caught out at 25th over. Rahul Dravid went out to the crease to return only after adding few runs. But, not to worry. On came to field Mohammad Azharuddin and started working around the ball in his usual manner. The climate of drama reached when Azharuddin got out on 47.3 overs leaving India at 267 for 4. India needed to make 16 runs in the 9 balls. In a nail biting finish India reached the destination with only one ball to spare. Scorecards South Africa in India, 1999/00, 4th One-Day
