India captain Sourav Ganguly could finally make it to the Asian XI which will take on a World XI in Dhaka on April 8 as part of ICC's Cricket Week celebrations. Ganguly is likely to replace an injured Saeed Anwar.
The ICC President Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya told The Hindu today, "we do not know the exact status of Anwar's injury, but that should be clear in two to three days time. But yes, Sourav Ganguly is the standby in case Anwar cannot play."
Ganguly's omission from the Asian XI, picked by Sunil Gavaskar, Asif Iqbal, Ian Chappell, Mike Procter and Tony Greig, with Ravi Shastri as moderator, caused a stir.
