Apr 12 (UNB)- An undefeated 74-run partnership between Tillekaratne and
Nahid steered Mohammedan SC to a five-wicket win against Wari Club in the
Janakantha Premier Division cricket League here today (Wednesday). With
this victory, Mohammedan Sporting Club collected twelve points from ten
matches. Wari bagged only four points from same number of outings. Mohammedan
has one match left in the first leg against Sadharan Bima, which will be
held on April 18. Chasing
a paltry 128-run target, Motijheel outfit fell into a big trouble losing
their first top order batsmen at 56 runs but Nahid and Tillekeratne
reached the target making 130 runs with twenty overs to spare at the
Bangabandhu National Stadium. Sri
Lankan left-handed batsman Hasan Tillekeratne made unbeaten 44 runs off 75
balls that featured eight boundaries while Nasirul Alam Nahid remained not
out with 27 runs off 47 balls that included three fours. Wari’s
new ball bowler Zakir made the first breakthrough in the third over’s
first ball sending Sri Lankan
Samaraweera to the pavilion. He struck 18 runs off 13 deliveries before
being bowled out. The
right hand pacer dismissed another opener Rashedul Haq Sumon trapping him
leg before wicket in the last ball of the third over. His
opening partner MI Montu also took two wickets of Mohammed Rafique (5),
who was promoted at the batting order, and Ruwan Kalpage (12). Both of
them fell victim to lbw. Earlier,

to bat first. The match was fixed 48 overs a side due to a delayed start
for pitch condition. Captain
Athar Ali Khan, the gentle medium pacer, played the key role to wreck the
opposition batting line-up picking up four wickets for 14 runs in 10
overs. Left-arm
spinner Mohammed Rafique picked up two wickets for 28 runs in 9 overs
while Ruwan Kalpage and Shahidul Islam Babu took one wicket each for 22
