Tarun beats Gopibagh by 9 wickets

Apr 18 (UNB)- Surjo Tarun Club registered their eighth win in the Janakantha
Premier Division Cricket League crushing newcomer Gopibagh FA by nine wickets at
the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium today (Tuesday). After
the day’s match, Surjo Tarun Club finished their first round campaign with 16
points from eleven matches while Gopibagh completed their journey with only one
victory from same number of outings. Gopibagh
Friends Association were all out for 173 runs in 47 overs. The match was fixed
47 overs due to late start for damp pitch. Opener
Narayan Chandra Topu made team highest 50 runs off 112 balls with three
boundaries. He contributed 90 runs in the second wicket stand with Selim Shahed. Captain
Selim Shahed scored 44 runs off 76 deliveries that included three hits across
the rope. Shamsul
Huda, who batted at number eight, was the other batsman who reached the double
figure making 12 runs off 8 balls with two fours. Khairuzzaman
Babu and Enamul Haq Moni claimed two wickets each for 31 and 37 runs
respectively. In
reply, an unbeaten 78-run association between Mohammed Ramzan and Al Shahriar
Rokon steered Surjo Tarun Club to reach the target making 177 runs losing one
wicket in 33.2 overs. Mohammed
Ashraful returned to the pavilion making 44 runs off 53 balls including six
boundaries. He built up a 95-run opening partnership with Ramzan. Pakistani
Mohammed Ramzan hit an unbeaten 79 off 104 deliveries that featured nine fours
while Rokon remained not out with 37 runs off 42 balls that featured four
boundaries. Indian
Gurmeet Singh captured the only the wicket conceding 23 runs in 5 overs.
