Brothers Union beats Surjo Tarun by nine wickets |

Dhaka, May 11 (UNB)- Brothers Union Club tasted first win in their fourth match of the Janakantha Premier Division Cricket Super League smashing Surjo Tarun Club by nine wickets at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today (Thursday). Brothers Union raised their tally to 16 points with one match in hand in the league against holders Bangladesh Biman while Surjo Tarun Club bagged 18 points from 14 outings. Openers Shahriar Hossain Bidyut and Ehsanul Haq Seezan shaped the day’s massive victory contributing a 127-run partnership chasing the opposition’s paltry total of 166 runs. Brothers Union Club easily reached the target making 169 runs in 29.4 overs losing only the wicket of Seezan who hammered 65 runs off 67 balls belting 10 boundaries and one over-boundary. National opener Bidyut scored unbeaten 82 runs off 97 deliveries that featured seven fours and two sixes while Jahangir Alam remained notout with 17 runs off 15 balls including two fours. Left-arm spinner Enamul Haq Moni took the only wicket conceding 38 runs in 7 overs. Earlier, Safiuddin Babu and Imran Rahim Lalu dismissed Surjo Tarun Club for fragile 166 runs in 46.1 overs sharing three wickets each. Pacer Babu wrapped up the top order claiming three wickets for 28 runs in 8 overs while spinner Lalu also picked up three for 32 runs in 8.1 overs. Khaled Mashud Pilot, the number seven batsman, helped his team make 150-plus total scoring 67 runs off 108 balls with one four. Openers Ashraful and Pakistani Manzoor Elahi returned to the pavilion in consecutive over with duck and at one stage Surjo Tarun lost their five wickets at 35 runs. Captain Minhajul Abedin Nannu and Pilot slightly repaired the early damage associating 25 runs in the sixth wicket stand. Lalu broke the partnership when Nannu offered a catch to wicket-keeper Mukter making 17 runs off 49 balls. Two lower-order batsmen Anisur Rahman and MA Sumon played supporting innings with Pilot. Number nine Anis made 18 runs off 21 balls with two fours while last willow-holder Sumon remained notout with 15 runs off 20 balls including one boundary.
