Dhaka, May 12 (UNB) - A brilliant all round performance by Rehan Rafique guided City Club to their consecutive third win in the Janakantha Premier Division Cricket Relegation League beating newcomer Gopibagh FA by five wickets here today (Friday).
Rehan grabbed five wickets for 23 runs in 10 overs and later scored team highest 77 runs off 95 balls with nine fours.
With the day’s victory at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, their seventh in the league, City Club share the top slot in the table with Victoria SC securing 14 points. Gopibagh FA have two points with one win in the first leg.
Opting to bat first, Gopibagh FA made 207 for 9 in stipulated 50 overs riding on an 87-run partnership between Topu and Selim Shahed.
Opener Topu scored 50 runs off 73 balls with six fours while captain Selim Shahed contributed 77 runs off 125 balls that featured eight boundaries.
Indian Gurmeet Singh was the other notable scorer who made 43 off 54 balls with five hits to the fence.
In reply, City Club reached their target of 208 runs losing five wickets in 44.5 overs. Rehan Rafique had 117-run association in the third wicket stand with Tutul who contributed 45 runs off 73 balls, helping the team to reach the target easily.
Opener Wasim Nayeem played a dazzling knock of 32 runs facing 29 balls that included seven fours while Lipu scored unbeaten 20 runs off 27 balls.
Shamsul claimed two wickets conceding 49 runs in 10 overs.
