2, 2000 BRISBANE, MAY 1 (AP) - Steve Waugh has earned a financial windfall for leading Australia to its most successful summer ever, gaining an upgraded contract Monday with the Australian Cricket Board. For leading Australia to its 14-game unbeaten stretch in limited-overs internationals and to 10 successive test wins, Waugh was rewarded with a payrise of 95,000 Australian dollars (U.S. dlrs 57,000). Waugh, who also guided Australia on its winning World Cup campaign last year, had his base contract increased to 315,000 Australian dollars (U.S. dlrs 190,000). He can expect to earn 600,000 Australian dollars (U.S. dlrs 360,000) with match payments. Tom Moody, Brendon Julian, Adam Dale and Stuart Law - all former regulars in the one-day squad - and retired wicketkeeper Ian Healy were cut from the ACB's list of 25 contracted players announced Monday. Matthew Elliott was recalled and West Australian rookie Michael Hussey was given a new contract as the ACB sought to bolster its strength among top-order batsmen. The squad now contains five openers with Michael Slater, Greg Blewett and Matthew Hayden all having their existing contracts renewed. Elliott, a veteran of 20 tests who is currently playing for Glamorgan in the English County competition, scored 1,028 runs at an average of 68.53 for Victoria in last season's Australian domestic competition. He had been cut from the squad after last year's tour of the West Indies. Australia will aiming to equal the international test record of 11 successive wins, held by the West Indies, when it takes on the West Indies in the first test at Brisbane in November. The contracted players are: Michael Bevan, Greg Blewett, Matthew Elliott, Damien Fleming, Adam Gilchrist, Jason Gillespie, Ian Harvey, Matthew Hayden, Michael Hussey, Michael Kasprowicz, Simon Katich, Justin Langer, Brett Lee, Shane Lee, Darren Lehmann, Damien Martyn, Stuart MacGill, Glenn McGrath, Colin Miller, Ricky Ponting, Michael Slater, Andrew Symonds, Shane Warne, Mark Waugh, Steve Waugh.
