Dhaka, May 24 (UNB) – As super suckers and pitch covers may not be available during the Pepsi Asia Cup Cricket, the organisers got worried over the rain that continued for the last three days.
The equipment were brought from Calcutta Eden Garden for the knock out World Cup 1998, but this time they expressed inability to provide the same, said Alam Chowdhury, who is in charge of the ground.
But the BCB is still hopeful to get those and would further try after the return of Board general secretary Syed Ashraful Haque, who is now on a tour in Pakistan.
Alam Chowdhury said current rain did not harm the pitches, but the outfield is facing problem. “If rain occurs in the morning prior to a match, it would be difficult to play full overs with the soaked and slow outfield,” he said.
The opening match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be held at pitch number three or one, he informed.
