Dhaka, May 31 (UNB)- Former captain Akram Khan hit a fastest half-century for Bangladesh against India in the 7th Pepsi Asia Cup Cricket at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.
The big man played a swashbuckling 64-run innings facing only 52 balls to entertain the enthusiastic local fans in the big bowl.
The middle order batsman, who also played a brilliant 41-run innings in the opening match against Sri Lanka, belted eight boundaries and one over boundary.
Akram is the highest half-century maker for Bangladesh and it was his fifth from 33 ODI innings.
The successful skipper in the local league, Akram reached the half-century mark playing a leg glance against Ganguly in the 48th over of the innings, facing 47 balls.
Akram brutally punished celebrity leg-spinner Anil Kumble hitting three boundaries in the 43rd over. He played the first one into the third man, the second over the bowler head, while the last one into the mid-wicket.
He played the lone over boundary against Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, hitting the side screen.
His innings ended just one run short of his best score when Badani caught at cover off Agarakar delivery. His career best score was 65 against Zimbabwe.
It was the 25th half-century in the one-day international for Bangladesh. |
