Dhaka, May 31 (UNB)- Right-hand batsman Habibul Bashar Sumon scored his career’s second half-century in the 7th Pepsi Asia Cup Cricket against India today (Wednesday).
Playing his 11th one-day international against the former Asia Cup champions at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, the one down batsman made 57 runs off 96 balls.
He made his first fifty against Zimbabwe in 1997 in Nairobi scoring 70 runs which is also his career best ODI innings.
Sumon reached the half-century mark taking two runs off Sachin Tendulkar placing the ball into the mid-wicket region after resuming his innings with 45 runs today.
But he soon returned to the pavilion being victim of a running catch at long-off by Azaharuddin off Sachin Tendulkar when the scoreboard reading 124 in 34.4 overs.
After hitting three boundaries and an over boundary on Tuesday, he kept himself quiet today without making any big shot to add 12 runs more to his previous score.
This was the second half-century for Bangladesh in the tournament after opener Javed Omar Belim Gulla scored an unbeaten 85 against Sri Lanka in the opening match.
