leaves for under-17 tournament |

Dhaka
(UNB) - Bangladesh national youth team left here for Pakistan yesterday
(Tuesday) to take part in the 10-team Asian Cricket Council Under-17
Tournament beginning in Karachi on Saturday. Nafis
Iqbal, a right-handed opening batsman of Wari Club from the port district
of Chittagong, is leading the Bangladesh squad comprising 14 players and
two officials. Bangladesh
has been placed in Pool A with hosts Pakistan, Nepal, Kuwait and the
Maldives while Pool B teams are Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates,
Malaysia, Singapore and Saudi Arabia. Test-debutante
Bangladesh’s youngsters will play giant Pakistan in the inaugural match
on July 15 at the National Stadium in Karachi. They
will meet Nepal on July 19 at the Asgar Ali Shah Stadium, the Maldives on
July 20 at the National Bank Sports Complex and Kuwait on July 21 at the
United Bank Sports Complex. Two
top teams from each pool will play in the semifinals -- both scheduled for
July 23 -- while the final will be held on July 25 at the National Stadium
in Karachi. Bangladesh
