NOTTINGHAM, England, July 20 (Reuters) - West Indies sealed a final-over consolation win against England in the last round-robin match of the triangular one-day series on Thursday.

But they will still have to watch Nasser Hussain's side take on Zimbabwe in Saturday's final.

Alec Stewart continued his fine form with his second successive century.

But he ran out of partners as England, chasing 195 for nine and needing five to win off the last over, lost three wickets in five balls, two falling to the gentle spin of occasional bowler Chris Gayle. They lost by three runs.

Jimmy Adams's West Indies team had failed to win any of their opening five matches in the series, but they got things right at last, shrugging off the absence of the injured Brian Lara to defend a mediocre total after being put in to bat.

England, who won their previous three games and play Zimbabwe at Lord's on Saturday to decide the competition, looked well set after reaching 46 without loss, only for pace bowler Reon King to take three wickets for two runs in nine balls, including Graeme Hick for a golden duck, to turn the game.

Stewart, who scored 74 not out and 101 in his previous two innings, quickly put on 63 with Craig White for the sixth wicket and 32 for the seventh with Mark Ealham.

Twenty-six were still needed with five overs remaining. Stewart, who during the series has also equalled the world record for one-day internationals of six wicketkeeping catches, reached three figures in the penultimate over, scoring 11 fours from 146 balls. But he would remain stranded on 100.

The final over from Gayle was full of action. Debutant Paul Franks was run out by a direct hit as he tried to steal a leg bye off the first ball. Stewart scrambled a leg bye off the next. Then Darren Gough was clean bowled by Gayle off the third ball and, off the fifth delivery, Alan Mullally went lbw. Gayle, who scored 37 with the bat, was the man of the match.
