Mexico's Pachuca beats Guadalajara, 2-0 |

April 25, 2000 MEXICO CITY, APR 24 (AP) - The central Mexico Pachuca squad rode goals by its Argentine forwards to a 2-0 victory over the Chivas of the western city of Guadalajara Sunday, while the Rayados of Monterrey blew out current Summer League champions, the Diablos of Toluca, 6-2. Pachuca forwards Gabriel Caballero y Pablo Hernan scored at the 22- and 92-minute marks, respectively. Cabellero stole the ball from a Chivas defenseman in front of the Guadalajara goal to score. The Chivas, seeking to even the score in the last minutes of the match, sent its whole squad to a corner shot, allowing Heran to dribble a shot into their undefended goal. Monterrey, a squad threatened with slipping to a lower division, showed its mettle in the 6-2 victory over Monterrey. Brazilian forwards Claudio da Silva and Marcelino Wagner at the 42- and 87-minute marks. Argentine forward Guillermo Rivarola contributed with two penalty-shot goals at 72 and 78 minutes; countryman Victor Mueller scored at 61 minutes, and Jesus Arellano scored at 77 minutes. Monterrey managed only two goals, by Alberto Macias at 24 minutes and Victor Ruiz at 38. Mexico City's Aguilas del America tied the Puebla squad 2-2, on two back-to-back goals by star forward Cuauhtemoc Blanco at 45 and 77 minutes. Puebla's Alberto Garcia Aspe scored early at 5 minutes, and Ecuadoran forward Ivan Kaviedes boosted the lead at the 40-minute mark. Chilean midfielder Rodrigo Ruiz scored his team's only goal at 67 minutes to boost the Santos squad over the northern city of Celaya, 1-0.
