Swansea supporter killed at division three game |

ROTHERHAM, England, MAY 7 (AP) - A 41-year-old soccer fan died after rival fans threw bricks and stones at each other before a third division game on Saturday, police said on Sunday.
According to South Yorkshire police, the man suffered serious injuries during the violence and died in the operating theater late Saturday night.
The man, from Swansea, was hurt during incidents before the game at Millmoor stadium which ended 1-1 and guaranteed that Swansea finished champion of division three. Rotherham also was promoted to division two.
With 11,000 fans packed into a sold out Millmoor there was also trouble during the game and police twice had to field with invasions of the field.
Police said they made 20 arrests. |
