Bangladesh Army made flying start in National football |

Dhaka, June 6 (UNB) – Hosts Noakhali and Bangladesh Army made flying start in the 21st Sher-e-Bangla Cup National Football Championship that began at the Shaheed Bhulu Stadium in Noakhali today (Tuesday).
General Secretary of the Bangladesh Football Federation Harun-ur-Rashid MP inaugurated the 12-team final round of the 11-day prestigious meet in the afternoon at a simple ceremony.
In the opening match, Bangladesh Army outplayed Tangail DSA by 4-0 goals after dominating the first session by a solitary goal scored by Nasiruddin in the 34th minute.
Shahidul Islam struck twice in the 59th and 75th minute while Rashidul Hassan netted the remaining goal in the 65th minute for the winners.
Nasiruddin of the Army was adjudged the best player of the match.
In the day’s other match, the home side Noakhali DSA earned a facile 3-0 goals victory over Comilla at the same venue after leading the first half by 2-0 goals.
National stars Alfaz Ahmed, Rakib Hossain and Sourav Majumder Raju scored apiece for the hosts in the 31st, 44th and 58th minutes respectively.
Parvez of Noakhali was named as the best booter of the match.
Narsingdi DSA will meet Pabna at 2 pm while Jessore will encounter Bhola DSA at 4 pm tomorrow (Wednesday) at the same venue.
