BANGKOK (AP) - The 10 member nations of the ASEAN Football Federation began a three-day meeting Sunday to discuss the future of the sport in Southeast Asia and conduct a draw for November's Tiger Cup.
The 10 teams will be divided into two groups for the Nov. 4-18 tournament, hosted by Thailand.
Defending champions Singapore downed Vietnam in the second Cup, held in Vietnam two years ago. The inaugural tournament, staged in Singapore in 1996, was won by Thailand.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations includes Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and the Philippines.
While very popular, the level of soccer competition in Southeast Asia falls below that of other Asian nations like Japan and South Korea.
