Rajshahi (UNB)- Nepal and Maldives shared point in their last engagement of the group-4 qualifiers in the 32nd Asian Youth Under-19 Football Championship here yesterday (Tuesday). The day’s unimportant, dull and drab engagement between two South Asian nations ended in a goal-less draw at the local stadium. Nepal played with 10 booters in the second half after Naresh Shrestha marched from the field with red card. Their striker Hari Thakuri was adjudged man of the match receiving TK 5,000. Both the teams lost to giant Iraq and host Bangladesh in their previous matches. In the first half, the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal created few opportunities, which were spoiled by poor finishing of its forwards. Sal Bahadur Karju got the first scoring chance in the early first half to put Nepal ahead but he failed to doze the helpless opposition custodian Mohammad Areesh. He spoiled another chance from a handshake distance from goal-mouth in the middle of the half as he failed to connect the ball from a Hari Thakuri pass. Just five minutes ahead of the lemon break, a brilliant left-foot side volley by Hari Thakuri from a Ram Shrestha minus was saved by the Islanders custodian. The Maldives looked quit impressive in the second half and got two chances. Ibrahim Shiyam failed to connect the ball in open net while a brilliant shot of Sagib from free kick was fisted by opposition goalie.
