Earlier, in the day’s first match, Badda Jagarani Sangsad beat Arambagh KS by 2-1 goals at the same venue. Haider and Walid scored for the winners while Khokon netted for the losers in the entertaining opening encounter of the round robin league of the 16th Federation Cup Football Tournament. Arambagh showed better performance in the first half, but swallowed the first goal from a penalty in the 20th minute. Haider scored the goal for Badda from the spot kick. During the injury time before the lemon break, Saiful Islam Khokon leveled the margin with a smooth header from a superb cross by Taju. Walid scored the match-winner in the third minute of the second half. Fed by a Haider minus, Walid found the net with his brilliant left-footer. Arambagh lost their rhythm in the second half and showed erratic performance. Yellow cards: Sayeed and Walid (Badda), Shamim (Arambagh). Badda Jagarani Sangsad: Tito, Papel, Riad, Lajuk, Hasan, Haider (Bulbul), Asad (Sayeed), Manwar, Nurul Islam, Walid and Tanveer. Arambagh KS: Himu (Pannu), Gobinda, Chotan, Biplob, Shamim (Barat), Kamal, Nayan, Bakhtiar, Taju, Khokon and Ritu. Referee: A Rakib. Saturday’s matches: Muktijoddha Sangsad vs Rahamatganj MFS (3:30pm), Mohammedan SC vs Prantik KC (5:30pm). |
