Victoria beat Brothers in Football League |

Dhaka (UNB)- Brothers Union Club conceded a 5-3 goals defeat in tie-breaker against promotee Victoria Sporting Club in the NBL Premier Division Football League at the soggy ground of Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday (Tuesday). From yesterday’s match, Victoria SC got two points, which was also their first earning from five outings, while Brothers Union got one. The Gopibagh outfit managed only one victory against Arambagh KS in the opening encounter. The day’s match rolled out in tiebreaker after ending 1-1 in the schedule time.
Brothers Union finished the first half with a 1-0 lead when their Nepalese recruit Bashanta Thapa scored in the 8th minute. But in the 13th minute of the second half, Sohel scored the equaliser for last year’s first division champions Victoria SC. In the day’s second match at the same venue, Rahmatganj MFS recorded their second win in the league beating another promotee Dhanmondi Club by a solitary goal. Captain Saifur Rahman Moni netted the all important goal in the sixth minute. Rahamatganj earlier won their previous match against Victoria SC while Dhanmondi bagged one win against the same opponent from their five matches. Wednesday’s matches: Premier Division- Mohammedan SC vs Badda Jagarani Sangsad (5:30pm) and First Division- Mirpur Chalantika vs Prantik KC (3:30pm) at BNS. |
