Dhaka (UNB) - The 2nd National and 1st International Dental Conference of Bangladesh Private Dental Surgeons Association will be held here in February next year. Fifty-two renowned dentists from different countries already confirmed their participation in the conference to be held February 14-17, association leaders told a press conference yesterday. They said the conference will focus development in the field of dental education and bring together clinicians, scientists and researchers in dental science and profession. Dr Jahangir Kabir, general secretary of the association addressed the press conference held at the Jatiya Press Club. He said most of the people in our country are not aware of their dental health as there is only one dentist for 1,50,000 people. He said there are many tooth pastes and powders in the local market, but most brands are not up to the mark, rather destructive for dental health. Dr Jahangir suggested formation of a body comprising dental surgeons, who will examine the quality of the pastes or tooth powders before marketing. He said several scientific sessions will be held during the conference to help the dentists acquire more knowledge from the specialists about the latest development in the field. "Many of our dentists cannot afford to go abroad to learn more. Through this conference, they will exchange their views with foreign experts that will enrich them" said Dr Jahangir. |
