Mayor visits Dengue patients |

Dhaka (UNB) - Dhaka City Mayor Mohammad Hanif yesterday visited the BIRDEM Hospital in the city to see the dengue patients. He talked to the patients in different wards of the hospital to inquire about their treatment and advised them not to be panicked. The duty doctors informed the Mayor that the number of dengue affected have decreased due to ongoing awareness campaign, said a DCC press release. The doctors further said patients from nearby districts including Gazipur and Narsingdi were also admitted to the hospital. Mayor Hanif yesterday also made surprise visits to different city areas to supervise the garbage cleaning drive. He expressed concern at the unhygienic condition created due to throwing of garbage by the roadside shop-owners blocking the drains. He urged the shop owners to dump the garbage into the dustbin from 6pm to 10pm. The Mayor also instructed the concerned officials to remove entire rubbish from the city during the three-day vacation of educational institutions. Meanwhile, DCC Health Department conducted fogging and larvaeciding in various areas of the city including Nilkhet, Green Road, Mirpur Road, part of university area, South Jatrabari, Mir Hazirbag, East and West Jurain, Muradpur, Malitola, Islampur, South Bishil of Mirpur and Kotbari 2nd colony. |
