Panic makes one more prone to Dengue |

Dhaka (UNB)- None should be panicked as it reduces the resistance power of human body. The advice came from Dr Mohammad Fazlul Huq, Professor of Medicine department at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital while referring to panic gripped situation in the country due to dengue. "Resistance power of human body declines due to panic," said Dr Huq while speaking at a press conference at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on dengue fever, organised by Association of Physicians of Bangladesh yesterday. He said there is no reason to fear as it has created panic among the people. He said sometimes people become panic when diarrhoea is branded as cholera. "People are found sick in panic situation," he told the newsmen. Prof MN Alam, head of Medicine department at BSMMU said those suffer from fever along with cold, throat pain, or cough as well those fever remain more than 14 days is not dengue fever. He said treatment of dengue is taken on the basis of symptoms. If the symptom is fever, then one can take paracitamol tablet and should drink plenty of water. Taking Aspirin and other drugs except paracitamol for pain and fever are prohibited, Prof Alam said. He also mentioned those treatments which are not recognized are antibiotic, steroid and anti-virus. About the time of admission in hospital he said one should be admitted in case of excessive bleeding, sudden fall of blood pressure and severe abdomen pain and respiratory problem. Symptoms of severe complications of dengue haemorrhagic fever including blood vomiting, bleeding through nose and teeth and stool and when colour of stool is black as tar. |
