Rotary & Inner Wheel Club begin cleansing |

Dhaka (UNB) - Joining hands with the Dhaka City Corporation for a neat and clean Dhaka and keeping sound environment for the city-dwellers, two private organisations began a cleanliness drive here yesterday. Under the three-month campaign, Rotary Club of Metropolitan Dhaka and Inner Wheel Club of Metropolitan Dhaka jointly employed four personnel for clearing garbage in city's Dhanmondi area. They supplied spray machine for destroying mosquito larva, garbage van and other necessary equipment besides paying monthly salary to the cleaners. "Out target is to motivate the residents of Dhanmondi in keeping their environment clean and involve them with this noble work," Mir Mokshed Ali, a Rotarian told UNB during the inaugural ceremony at Abahani ground. Noted folk singer Mostafa Zaman Abbasi formally inaugurated the cleanliness drive while former president of Rotary Club of Metropolitan Dhaka and Dhaka Bureau chief of Associated Press (AP) Farid Hossain, Nasreen Hasan, Asfaq Khan, Nazma Khan, Iffat Obayed and Mahbub Talukder were present. |
