CAIRO-- (AP) - A woman has confessed to killing her husband with a powerful punch in the face and then trying to cover up her action by burying him without proper permission, police officials said Monday. Souad Shawky Mohammed, 43, said she and her husband, Youssef Sayed Youssef, 66, were fighting over her household allowance when she punched him. She said Youssef fell to the floor and died instantly, the officials said on customary condition of anonymity. Mohammed told Youssef's family that he died of natural causes. The retired civil servant was buried without the proper burial permission. Suspicious of the story, Youssef's family recently asked the police to investigate his death. Inspecting the corpse, police found he had suffered from a circulatory collapse and nose bleeding that led to his death. Domestic violence is rampant in Egypt, but women are often the victims. |
