PARIS
(AP) - Workers on Monday found a package booby-trapped with 25 sticks of
dynamite at a work site facing the International Conference Center in the
French capital, not far from the Arc de Triomphe, police said.
The
bomb, equipped with a fuse, was defused by a special police squad.
The
police anti-terrorism division, investigating the incident, said it
appeared that "no threat targeted the conference center" which
was to hold a ceremony for Slovenia's national day on Monday night.
Authorities do not consider Slovenia "sensitive," or a likely
target for attack, police said.
The bomb, wrapped in paper and bound with adhesive tape, was discovered Monday morning by workers cleaning the front of a building facing the conference center on Avenue Kleber, in the French capital's 16th district.
The
explosive was under analysis, police said. |
