KIEV, SEPT 19 (UNBAP) - The only working reactor at Ukraine's Rivne nuclear power plant returned to full output after repairs on a generator, officials said Tuesday. The output of reactor No. 1 was halved on Sunday due to a malfunction of the generator's condenser, the state-run nuclear company Energoatom said. Repairs took until Monday evening. No radiation leaks were reported. Ukraine has five atomic power plants with 14 working reactors, including one at Chernobyl, site of the world's worst nuclear accident in 1986. These plants produce about 40 percent of country's electricity. |
