Seasonal Dish 

Kathal Curry (Jackfruit Curry)

Ingredients

½ Raw jack fruit

2 onions, chopped fine;

½ cup curd

3tsp coriander powder

1’n ½ tsp chilli powder

5 flakes garlic

1tsp cummin powder

1tsp turmeric powder

1tsp mustard powder

¼ tsp asafoetida

a few mint leave shopped

ginger, salt, oil 

 

Preparation

 

Peel and cut the raw jackfruit into four cm. cubes. Add a cup of water and one tsp. salt and cook for five minutes. Grind the onions, garlic and ginger to a fine paste.

 

 

 

To this paste add coriander powder cummin powder, tumeric powder, mustard powder, chilli powder, curd and asafoetida.  

 

Heat oil in a pan. Fry the thick moshla paste till well browned. Add the cooked jackfruit pieces and fry them well for five minutes. Add salt and enough water to form thick gravy. Simmer on low heat for a few minutes. Garnish with mint leaves.
