Hilsa
Onion Korma
Ingredients
450g
( 1Ib) hilsa steaks
225g
( 8 oz) thinly sliced onions
1/2
teaspoon ground turmeric
6
green chilies pared 1/3
cup
soybean oil
salt
to taste
Preparation
Mackerel,
herring, trout and shad may substitute hilsa in this korma. Rinse fish
steaks and drain water.
Heat
oil in a pan. Saute onions until soft. Mix fish with salt and turmeric.
Arrange the steaks in the pan, cover and cook over low heat for about 2
hours. Turn the pieces of fish once and add chilies . When oil separates
out remove from heat
Serve
hot with fluffy boiled rice or bread. 6 servings.
