Tips for some common problems in your kitchen:

æTo keep hot water warm for a long time, add a little common salt to it.
äTo prevent hot oil from spluttering when frying, add a tiny piece of salt-coated tamarind.

åTo clean the inside of a flask half fill it with hot water and put a few scraps of paper in it. Keep the flask aside for an hour. Rinse well and wash the flask with clean water. Your flask will be stain and dirt free.

æBoil the buttermilk left after churning butter. Drain the water through a strainer and wash the residue with water. The panner will be as fresh as that obtained from fresh milk.

äWhile your pressure cooker is on, place one or two flat bottomed steel tumblers filled with water on the lid. The hot water comes handy in cooking or cleaning greasy utensils, milk bottles/packets etc.

åTo keep biscuits crisp and fresh for a long time, cover the exterior of the biscuit tin, with blotting paper.

æDon’t throw away apple peelings. Make a thin batter of corn flour. Dip the peelings in the batter an deep fry to a golden brown. Then toss hem in powder sugar, spiced with cinnamon powder. It makes a quick and tasty snack.
