  • May 24, 1979 - Bangladesh plays in it's first ICC Trophy in England

  • March 31, 1986 - Bangladesh plays it's first One day International against Pakistan in Sri Lanka, bowler Jahangir Shah takes the wicket of Mohsin Khan, the first ODI wicket taken by Bangladesh.

  • October 27, 1988 - First One day International at home in Chittagong against India

  • April 28, 1990 - Azhar Hossain scores the first ODI half-century for Bangladesh against New Zealand in Sharjah

  • April 6th, 1995 - For the first time ever, Bangladesh bowls out a test playing nation within 50 overs (Sri Lanka 233/10 in Sharjah).

  • April 9th, 1997 - For the first time ever, Bangladesh qualifies for the World Cup by beating Scotland in the semi-finals of ICC Trophy in Malaysia.

  • April 13th, 1997 - On it's 6th appearance in the ICC Trophy, Bangladesh claims the Trophy for the first time beating Kenya in a nail-biting final.

  • June, 1997 - Bangladesh, along with Kenya, are Granted official ODI status by the ICC.

  • July 16th, 1997 - Bangladesh scores 210 for 9 against Pakistan, reaching it's first double century mark.

  • October 11, 1997 - Bangladesh scores 257 against Zimbabwe, it's highest ODI total ever.

  • December 1st, 1997 - Al Shahriar Rokon becomes the first Bangladeshi batsman to score a first-class century (102) against Southern Districts in New Zealand.

  • January 24th, 1998 - Bangladesh U-19 becomes the plate champions in the 2nd Youth World cup after beating England in the preliminary round, and WI in the plate final.

  • May 17th, 1998 After 22 ODI's over the span of a decade, Bangladesh posts it's first ODI win against Kenya

  • March 25th, 1999 Nine years after Azhar Hossain scored the first ODI half century for Bangladesh, his nephew Mehrab Hossain scores the first ODI century against Zimbabwe.

  • May 17th, 1999 Bangladesh plays in their first World Cup match against New Zealand, in which they suffer a crushing defeat.

  • May 24th, 1999 First world cup victory for Bangladesh, as they defeat Scotland by 22 runs.

  • May 31st, 1999 First victory over a test-playing nation comes as Pakistan goes down by 62 runs.

  • Bangladesh have bowled out a test playing nation on only three occasions in an ODI- Sri Lanka in 1995 (233 runs in 49.4 overs), Zimbabwe in 1997 (294 runs in 50 overs) and Pakistan in 1999 (162 runs)

  • Bangladesh's first 12 ODI's were played over a span of 9 years.

  • On May 24th, 1999, Hasibul Hussain became the first bowler from a non-test playing nation to take 25 ODI wickets.
